Those who serve as board members and team reps put in a lot of time. There is a lot to operating a club with three teams and a budget of over $50,000. We understand when we volunteer for a position that we will be putting time in and we don’t mind but we also expect that the rest of the families will help out as needed and requested. Descriptions of the Various Volunteer Positions
Announcer
The announcer's duties include:
- Announce players' names and numbers for goals, assists, and penalties.
- Announce our Ram and Green sponsors between the 2nd and 3rd periods.
This volunteer position is needed at all home games.
DJ
The DJ's duties include:
- Play National Anthem at start of game.
- Play music prior to game, during stoppage of play, and after game.
This volunteer position is needed at all home games.
Scoreboard Operator
The scoreboard operator's duties include:
- Start/stop the game clock.
- Enter penalties (time) on the scoreboard.
You should be generally familiar with the game of ice hockey and CPIHL rules. Training is available for those wishing to volunteer for this position. This volunteer position is needed for all home games.
Pointstreak Operator
The Pointstreak operator's duties include:
- Operate the electronic scoring console (PointStreak) during the game.
- Maintain a paper copy as a backup in case the system goes down or freezes.
- Have referees verify entries and "sign off" on game.
You should be generally familiar with the game of ice hockey and CPIHL rules. Training is available for those wishing to volunteer for this position. This volunteer position is needed for all home games.
Penalty Box Attendant
The penalty box attendant's duties include:
- Open and close the penalty box door for any player serving a penalty during the game.
This position is required at all home games. Per CPIHL, there is no coaching permitted from the penalty box.
Videographer
The videographer's duties include:
- Record each period of home and away games. (You would start the camera, leave it zoomed out so the majority of the ice can be seen at all times, follow the puck, stop the camera. Repeat for each period.)
This volunteer position is needed at every home and away game.
Locker Room Attendant
The locker room attendant's duties include:
- Lock the locker room and hold the key during the game.
- Remain near the door to unlock it at any time during the game for any player leaving the ice for injury or penalty.
- Prior to the game, check the locker room and report any damage or litter to the rink staff before the team occupies the room.
- After the game, remain until all players have cleared the locker room and conduct a final sweep. The Club is responsible for any damage or litter left behind by our team.
CPIHL and USA Hockey require background checks and Safe Sport certification for this position. This volunteer position is required at all home and away games.
Yellow Jacket (Security)
The yellow jacket's duties include:
- Remind our fans of league and rink rules regarding behavior and profanity, if necessary.
- Any serious behavior issues should be directed to rink employees to resolve.
Two (2) people are required to wear yellow jackets with the words “Team Security” on the back for all home and away games.
Admission Table Attendant
The admission table attendant's duties include:
- Collect admission fees from spectators.
- Sell team merchandise and season passes.
- Offer team schedules and rosters.
- Track number of spectators entering game on CPIHL's form.
- Reconcile CPIHL's form with money collected.
- Stay at table through end of 1st period.
Two (2) adults are needed to fill this volunteer position at every home game. Since the table must be manned through the first period, you may volunteer for your child's team or for another of our teams (example, any of our parents could volunteer for a game in which their child is not playing).
